Intro to Ag Science (2.5 credits) – Intro
   
Intro to Agriculture empowers students explore a broad understanding of a variety of agricultural areas, develop an awareness of the many career opportunities in agriculture, participate in occupationally relevant experiences, and work cooperatively with a group to develop and expand leadership abilities. Students study California agriculture, agricultural business, agricultural technologies, natural resources, hydroponics, submersible pump technologies, animals, plants, and soil.

Veterinary Science (5 credits) Concentrator

This course introduces students to the field of veterinary science. Major topics include veterinary terminology, safety, sanitation, anatomy/physiology, clinical exams, hospital procedures, parasitology, posology, laboratory techniques, nutrition, disease, office management, and animal management. Careers are explored through off-site visits to colleges, zoos, and veterinary offices. Leadership development will also be provided on campus. Each student will be expected to have an agricultural experience project. In Veterinary Science, students working in teams demonstrate their technical competency with small and large animals by completing a written exam, critical-thinking scenario questions, identifications and hands-on practicums.

Horticulture & Plant Science (5 credits) Capstone/Completer

This course prepares students for community college career programs and entry-level positions in the horticulture and nursery industries. Instruction includes safety in the horticulture industry, aquaculture, aquaponics, the science of horticulture and soils, nursery plant production, greenhouse operations and management, landscape design, and turf management. Through hands-on activities, students will identify and manage plant-growing, pruning, propagation, growing horticultural plants in the greenhouse and land laboratory.
